Meet Our Pastor
Pastor James W. Rodgers & First Lady Mildred Rodgers
In October of 1999, Pastor James W. Rodgers and First Lady Mildred Rodgers started Pilgrims’ Progress Church in the basement of their home with 11 members. God gave Pastor the vision for the organization would be a hospital for wounded spiritual warriors, based on Psalms 46:1-5.
From hence, the name Pilgrims Progress was given to represent that we are all pilgrims on a journey and our organization is here to assist in every aspect of that journey. The progressive vision of the church was the inspiration for the current logo using two P’s and 3 depictions of the globe to symbolize our mission to address the needs of the whole man across the world.
Our first mission began in December 2000 to address physiological needs. Pilgrims Progress utilized our own resources provided food boxes to 6 families in need for the holidays as the beginning stage of Pilgrims Progress Food Pantry.
As the demand for assistance increased, our organization partnered with Midwest Food Bank to expand the food pantry which to date has served as many as 1,500 individuals a month. Over the years additional partnerships have been added to provide clothing and other household necessities to communities in need.
“By celebrating our unity and fostering genuine connections, we not only enrich our own spiritual journey but also inspire transformative change in our wider world. We are better together!”
— Pastor James W. Rodgers, Pilgrims Progress Church
